About The Position

We are hiring immediately for a Part-Time Software Developer III to join the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health in Austin, Texas. The ideal candidate should have prior experience and proficiency with developing mobile applications, and with two of the following programming languages: Swift, Kotlin, or Dart (Flutter). Effective communication skills are essential. This is a hybrid position. What we do here changes the world. Requirements

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C++).
  • Excellent technical and general communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency with Web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
  • 3 years of relevant experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in building/implementing mobile backend services and integrating with cloud services such as AWS.
  • Proficiency with development on multiple mobile platforms (iOS/Android) and agnostic/cross-compatible platforms (Flutter).

Responsibilities

  • Writes clean, efficient, and well-documented code using Swift/Objective-C, Java/Kotlin, and/or Dart, with a strong focus on mobile UI/UX best practices.
  • Build, test, and deploy apps on both Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
  • Provides technical guidance and mentorship to student developers, helping them grow and succeed in their roles.
  • Analyzes and troubleshoots technical issues, and proposes solutions to address them effectively.
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams and participates in testing (TestFlight/Google Play internal testing) and debugging to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Writes and maintains documentation for code, processes, and project-related information to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
