About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented candidate with knowledge and experience working with avionics systems, components, and software. This position is located at NAVAIR Station Pax River in St. Mary's County, MD and requires daily on-site presence.

Requirements

  • Must have at least two years’ experience:
  • Developing software in C++
  • Working in a Linux environment
  • Using Jira and Confluence
  • Working with Git, Bitbucket, or Mattermost
  • Performing unit testing
  • Communicating effectively with software program leaders, engineers/developers, and stakeholders
  • Performing and managing software engineering and development efforts
  • Working with software requirements, design, process management, open architecture principles, integration, and test
  • An Interim Secret Clearance is required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Cameo and DOORS
  • Experience with RHEL 9 or 10
  • Knowledge of AIDA
  • Familiarity with Weapon System Open Architecture (WOSA) and MIL-STD-1553
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Develop code supporting aircraft system software
  • Interface with Naval Air Station Patuxent River headquarters, contractor personnel, and other government activities for the program
  • Conduct technical reviews to determine acceptability of changes to software
  • Advise on technical issues
  • Monitor research, analysis, design, development, test, and manufacturing operations
  • Provide technical oversight into the Program Increment (PI) priority workloads
  • Review and provide technical inputs on proposed changes to processes and software development plans
  • Function as a member of an integrated team
