Join us to drive positive, lasting change that moves missions and the government forward! AFS is seeking a skilled and experienced Software Engineer / Developer to join our team. The Software Developer/Engineer will perform hands-on software development and integration for various client software components, including infrastructure, data tools, and user interfaces. This candidate will translate system engineering designs into robust software designs, and then design, implement, and maintain source code, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and Configuration-as-Code. This person will write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following established coding standards, create comprehensive unit tests to ensure code quality, and participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge. This person will troubleshoot and resolve software defects, optimize code for performance and scalability, and integrate with APIs and external systems. This person will implement security best practices in code development, collaborate with UI/UX designers to implement user interfaces, and work with database specialists to design and implement data models. This person will document code, APIs, and technical designs, participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning and daily stand-ups, and stay current with emerging technologies and development practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, JSON, PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby, Pig/Hive, and/or Elixir
  • Strong understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and algorithms
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., JIRA, Git).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • US Citizenship required
  • Active Secret clearance

Nice To Haves

  • One of these following certifications: GIAC/CISSP/CASP+, or equivalent DoD 8140/8570-level certification, SecurityX / CASP+, CCSP, Cloud+, CSC, GCLD, GSEC
