The position involves developing and implementing software for embedded products and prototypes within the Siemens Smart Infrastructure Electrical Products R&D team. The role focuses on creating technologies for electrical circuit protection, energy source selection, and power distribution. The candidate will engage in the complete product design lifecycle, from design to deployment and maintenance, contributing to innovative solutions that enhance safety and efficiency in electrical systems.

  • Design, develop, implement, test, and validate low-level software for embedded devices and systems based on defined requirements.
  • Help deploy new products in manufacturing and maintain software for mass production.
  • Contribute to periodic analysis of resources (memory, timing, speed) for microcontrollers and microprocessors to develop efficient products.
  • Collaborate with engineering disciplines including software/firmware, electrical hardware, mechanical, project management, and quality personnel to verify and validate products.
  • Assess third-party and open-source software components for safe and secure software releases.
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in developing software for embedded applications, particularly with real-time operating systems on microcontrollers and microprocessors (ARM cortex).
  • Strong working experience in C or C++ and hands-on development on embedded systems.
  • Understanding of embedded firmware, source code control systems, and test automation scripting.
  • Ability to read and interpret hardware schematics.
  • Advanced degree (Master's/PhD) can substitute for industry experience.
  • Experience with communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART) and security packages for firmware.
  • Familiarity with electronic test equipment like oscilloscopes and multi-meters.
  • Knowledge of UL certification and electrical power distribution systems.
  • Experience with SCADA software systems and industry-standard RTOS like freeRTOS.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology and software development processes.
