About the position
The Software Developer 3 position at Oracle involves building and maintaining large-scale distributed infrastructure for cloud services. The role focuses on software design and development for Oracle's Cloud Storage Infrastructure, requiring expertise in distributed systems and a collaborative, agile work environment. Engineers at Oracle are expected to have a significant impact on both technical and business aspects of the projects they work on.
Responsibilities
- Own the software design and development for major components of Oracle's Cloud Storage Infrastructure.
- Design and build innovative new systems from the ground up.
- Troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, and networks.
- Provide technical leadership to other software developers.
- Specify, design, and implement changes to existing software architecture.
Requirements
- 4+ years experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.
- Strong knowledge of C++ and/or Java, and experience with scripting languages such as Python.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.
- Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.
- Strong understanding of block storage systems, NoSQL systems, and distributed persistence technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
- Experience building multi-tenant storage infrastructure using modern C++, and/or Linux kernel background.
