We are seeking a hands-on senior data engineer with creative problem solving and collaborative approach to join the App Store Analytics engineering team focused on Advertising solutions to help drive app discoverability. In this role, you will be part of analytics team working with product, privacy, multi-functional engineering teams to drive creation of innovative privacy preserving solutions that deliver on Apple's privacy vision.

  • Implement designs to a scalable, high quality observable set of pipelines and services.
  • Understand the data deeply and use that knowledge to help answer critical business questions as well as drive product design.
  • Be accountable for the quality, scalability and performance of the systems built.
  • Pick up new technologies as driven by needs of the project.
  • Partner with program teams to plan and implement sprint goals.
  • Work collaboratively in a team that embraces challenges and values humility, integrity and dedication to each other's growth.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of programming experience in Scala (preferred) or Java.
  • Proven skills in designing scalable, highly available distributed systems using Kafka, Iceberg, Kubernetes, Apache Spark, Flink, Airflow & Cassandra or similar technologies.
  • Strong quantitative and SQL skills.
  • Understanding of functional programming ideas and principles.
  • Self-directed, self-motivated and ability to create architecture and design documents.
  • Good understanding of software engineering principles and fundamentals including algorithms and data structures.
  • Ability to capture multi-functional requirements and translate them into practical engineering tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work in a multi-functional environment.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and compliance techniques such as anonymization, aggregation and segregation.
  • Experience with data lineage systems, such as OpenLineage and Cypher.
  • Understanding of ads domain and regulatory environment.
