About The Position

JBW Federal is seeking a Software Asset Manager to work in the Scott AFB, IL area. A United States Citizenship and an active Secret DoD Security Clearance is required to be considered for this position. The role of the Software Asset Manager is to drive the operational and strategic components of the Software Asset Management Service. The ideal individual for this position has natural leadership skills as they will be responsible for the oversight, management, and optimization of software assets across the organization. This role ensures that software licensing, compliance, and utilization align with business needs and vendor requirements. The Software Asset Manager works closely with procurement, IT, legal, and finance teams to maintain accurate inventories, optimize costs, and mitigate compliance risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3-5 years of experience in software asset management, IT asset management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with asset management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Flexera, Snow, SCCM).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance is required.
  • Must be a US Citizen and pass a background check.
  • Maintain applicable security clearance(s) at the level required by the client and/or applicable certification(s) as requested by FEDITC and/or required by FEDITC'S Client(s)/Customer(s)/Prime contractor(s).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of ITIL or other ITSM frameworks is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures for effective software asset management (SAM).
  • Maintain an accurate and comprehensive inventory of software licenses, contracts, and entitlements.
  • Monitor software usage to ensure compliance with licensing agreements and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Coordinate with procurement to manage software acquisition, renewals, and vendor negotiations.
  • Partner with internal audit and legal to support software compliance and respond to audits or vendor inquiries.
  • Track software lifecycle from acquisition through deployment, usage, and retirement.
  • Analyze software usage data to identify trends, underutilized licenses, and consolidation opportunities.
  • Ensure proper licensing documentation and maintain relationships with key software vendors.
  • Provide regular reporting and dashboards to stakeholders on software usage, compliance status, and spend.
  • Collaborate with IT and security teams to support software deployment strategies and maintain governance.
  • Ability to lead an Asset and Configuration Management Workshop
