The Software Analyst II designs software solutions for product needs by collaborating with the product owner, business stakeholders, and software engineers. In addition, this position ensures the Development Team clearly understands business needs and leads the effort to design effective, simple and creative solutions. The Software Analyst II also elicits, analyzes and communicates detailed functional requirements within the agile development process. As a more experienced Software Analyst, this position develops a broad business understanding and leads collaboration as well as provides recommendations for new software, procedures and technical resolutions. This position offers a hybrid work option. Nelnet values flexibility and understands the importance of work-life integration. Our hybrid work environment allows associates to work remotely for part of the week, while also fostering collaboration and team connection through in-office presence in our Draper Utah office. The in-office requirement will fluctuate depending on the current need of the rotation and offers flexibility for candidates still attending college courses on campus through graduation. Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate experience.
• 3+ years of experience with NBS products or in a similar position with another company.
• Experience in designing, developing, implementing, testing and managing technology solutions.
• Experience with SQL.
• Working knowledge of software technology and broad business knowledge.
• Established skills in technical examination and analysis.
• Ability to think conceptually and have an adaptable and flexible mindset.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Respectful and collaborative with the ability to adapt to change.
• Focus on delivering value through continuous learning and pride in ownership.

Responsibilities

• Provides functional/technical requirements elicitation, analysis, solution design, and testing support.
• Translates business objectives into actionable functional/technical requirements.
• Ack as/partners with the Product Owner to ensure the Development Team’s comprehension of the business needs and the solutions being developed fully support the business objectives, functional requirements, and user interface requirements.
• Develops an overall understanding of the business.
• Resolves impediments related to software requirements.
• Participates in design reviews and team reviews to assess test cases, documentation, and other specifications around the project.
• Leads collaborations across teams.
• Determines and recommends steps for implementing/integrating new software and procedures.
• Identifies issues/gaps in designs or implementations and recommends solutions.
• Identifies and communicates risks to the Product Owner.
• Troubleshoots applications and recommends technical resolutions for research tickets or impediments.
• Provides post-implementation support.
• Assists with user training and related artifacts.
• Monitors DevOps processes, captures metrics, and provides insight and ideas on improving efficiency.
• Ability to test software to verify requirements.
