NIS is seeking an experienced Senior Software AG Engineer to support a federal program in Lakewood, CO. The successful candidate will serve as a subject-matter expert in Software AG products and will be responsible for architecting, administering, and optimizing enterprise database solutions that support mission-critical applications for our government clients. This role is hybrid, offering the flexibility of remote work with occasional onsite support required in Lakewood, CO.

  • Perform comprehensive database administration and architect duties across Software AG environments.
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure database solutions.
  • Develop and support Natural applications through performance tuning, troubleshooting, and lifecycle maintenance.
  • Collaborate closely with development, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams to integrate database solutions into enterprise systems.
  • Establish and maintain database standards, documentation, and best practices.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively implement improvements.
  • Support compliance with federal security, data integrity, and availability requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline).
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience working with Software AG technologies.
  • Proficiency and expertise demonstrated with ADABAS – database administration, design, and optimization.
  • Proficiency and expertise demonstrated with Natural – programming, maintenance, and integration.
  • Strong background in database architecture, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working on cross-functional teams.
  • U.S. citizenship required due to government contract requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DoI Suitability.
  • Experience supporting federal agencies or large-scale government IT programs.
  • Familiarity with modernization efforts and integration with newer platforms and services.
