About The Position

The ideal candidate will have softball experience and possess knowledge of strength and conditioning principles. Coaches are expected to adhere to all policies and procedures established by the MIAA and GLTS, demonstrate positive character, and promote sportsmanship both on and off the field. They will foster leadership skills in student-athletes, emphasize the importance of academic achievement, and cultivate pride within their program, school, and the broader community. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Coaches must have experience in softball, knowledge in strength/conditioning, follow all policies and procedures within the MIAA & GLTS, display positive character, promote sportsmanship on/off the field, develop leadership skills, stress the importance of academics and build pride within their program, school and community . EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Candidates should have experience in softball. High School diploma is required. At least five years of experience. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: Coaches must have, and stay current, with the following certifications: Concussion Education Certification CPR/AED Certification MIAA Coaches Education Certification Completion of ArxED Training Sport Specific Training - NFHS approved courses ABILITY, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: A highly effective coach possesses the ability to lead, motivate, and mentor student-athletes while ensuring a safe, structured, and positive team environment. The coach demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of sport-specific rules, strategies, and techniques, as well as familiarity with MIAA/GLTS regulations, proper conditioning and training practices, and emergency procedures, including CPR and AED. Furthermore, the coach exhibits proficiency in fostering teamwork, managing conflicts, coordinating schedules, and cultivating positive relationships with students/players, parents/caregivers, and colleagues.
