About The Position

Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent. Valid Florida teaching certificate or valid Florida Department of Education athletic coaching certificate. Valid FHSAA certificate(s). Valid Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Valid Florida's driver's license. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Current employee of the School District of Lee County. Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Teaching, coaching, and athletic knowledge and experience. A working knowledge of the sport. Oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to administer First Aid/CPR/AED as needed for illness, injury, or life-threatening emergencies per certification training guidelines. Revised: 06/12/2024 Responsibilities ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Follow established school eligibility procedures for FHSAA eligibility; assist in the collection of insurance or insurance waivers, physicals, parent permission forms, and grade report forms. Assist the head coach in all assigned duties. Teach and coach the fundamentals of the sport, good sportsmanship, leadership, respect for teachers and adults, fair play, and the importance of academics and relate to and inspire confidence in students. Abide by and enforce School Board and FHSAA policies on tobacco, alcohol, and drugs. Assume the duties and responsibilities of the head coach in his/her absence. Complete the duties assigned by the head coach, such as scouting. Attend coaches’ meetings when called or scheduled. Assist the head coach in securing the facility at the close of each practice and/or game. Assist the head coach in preparing playing areas (facility) for scheduled games.
