Kern Community College District is soliciting applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors. The starting salary range is $65.00/hour; Hourly rate may vary based on type of assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. This is for an adjunct pool that will be used to staff part-time adjunct positions for the 2024-2025 academic year. The successful candidate will be expected to provide instruction in a full range of Psychology courses in the Rising Scholars Program. This assignment may include teaching at other campus sites, day, evening or weekend classes, large classes, distance learning, and multiple teaching methodologies. Other duties include: participating in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Behavioral Science department; maintaining subject matter currency; developing and revising curriculum; using computer and multimedia technology; assessing student learning and program level outcomes; collegially participating in department, college, and discipline-specific professional activities.

  • Provide instruction in a broad range of accounting courses.
  • Teach at other campus sites, day or evening classes, weekend classes, large classes, and distance learning.

  • Participate in departmental, college, and discipline-specific professional activities.
  • Master's in sociology OR Bachelor's in sociology AND Master's in anthropology, any ethnic studies, social work or psychology OR the equivalent.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions.
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues.
  • Ability to effectively work with students with a wide range of skills and motivations.
  • Ability to develop curriculum delivered via different modalities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies.
