About The Position

The Social Worker for the Blind will provide Independent Living Services, counseling, Medical Eye Care, and specialized services for blind and visually impaired consumers of all ages living in Lee, Moore and Chatham Counties. The Social Worker for the Blind provides services to assist consumers in becoming or remaining independent by teaching techniques and methods of daily living skills, personal care, home management and self-advocacy. The social worker for the blind works closely with other professionals and resources to assist consumers in attaining and maintaining their highest level of self-sufficiency.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution; or Bachelor’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; or Master’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; or Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
