They are the link between home, school and community in providing direct and indirect services to students, families and school staff in order to promote and support students’ academic, social, emotional and personal success by providing specialized services. Job Summary: Teach curriculum of Independent School District 196. Develop and demonstrate culturally responsive practices that lead to equitable outcomes for all students, particularly those groups of students that are overrepresented in special education. Demonstrate proactive response to support students with emotional regulation difficulties . Provide instruction in strategies to support students in developing social emotional skills for success. Use assessment tools to identify and eliminate barriers to student success. Collaborate, consult and coordinate with school staff, families, community agencies and other professionals in order to meet student and family needs. Provide crisis prevention and intervention to students and families. Address mental and emotional health in our student population by providing direct services, staff/parent consultation or by making a referral to an appropriate outside agency. Advocate for students with disabilities to ensure high levels of achievement. Promote and develop strong communication and collaboration with staff, parents and other professionals. Other duties as assigned by your Principal. Carry out responsibilities as defined by the master contract.
