About The Position

The Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Social Worker is responsible for monitoring patient compliance with all program and DOC rules and regulations, performing assessments, and evaluating inmates' needs. This role involves providing quality clinical services and case management to assigned inmates in accordance with Spectrum’s clinical design and in compliance with all licensing, accreditation, and regulatory bodies. The social worker will provide group treatment using Spectrum curriculum, complete all required documentation and outcome measurement tools within established timeframes, and maintain records in accordance with Spectrum and VA DOC policies and procedures. They will also ensure the accuracy of CORIS screens, participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning, case reviews, conferences, and other meetings. Maintaining comprehensive current clinical skills, competencies, licensure, and certification is required, along with preparing and submitting all necessary reports. The social worker serves as a role model/mentor for patients while maintaining professional boundaries, ensures program operation aligns with Spectrum’s and DOC’s ethics and boundaries policies, and provides referrals and aftercare services as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology, education-counseling, medicine, psychology, psychiatric nursing, rehabilitative counseling, social work, or closely related field
  • Minimum of two years of supervised counseling experience

Nice To Haves

  • Licensure (LICSW, LCSW, LMHC, LPC) or CSAC, CADC certification
  • DOC experience
  • Medication Assisted Treatment experience
  • Knowledge of local/regional community resources for substance use recovery and reentry stabilization.

Responsibilities

  • Completing all outcome measurement tools as required by Spectrum, DOC, and licensing within required timeframes.
  • Maintaining records in accordance with Spectrum and VA DOC policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining and ensuring accuracy of CORIS screens.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary treatment planning, case reviews, conferences and other meetings as directed.
  • Maintaining comprehensive current clinical skills, competencies, licensure, and certification as required.
  • Preparing and submitting all required reports.
  • Serving as a role model/mentor for patients while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Ensuring program operates in accordance with Spectrum’s and DOC’s ethics and boundaries policies.
  • Providing referrals and aftercare services as required.
