About The Position

The Social Worker provides community-based support services to Tribal members. Services are strength-based, person-centered, and culturally and trauma-informed. Responsibilities entail crisis stabilization and direct community-based services to Tribal members, including but not limited to case management, coordination of our educational advocacy project, development of preventative services, facilitation of groups and community activities, collaboration and linkages to community resources and agencies, and maintenance of case records and progress notes.

Requirements

  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Must have High School diploma or GED
  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree Social Work, Psychology, or related field; OR; equivalent combination of education and experience (Equivalent = two (2) year’s direct experience to one (1) year of education).
  • Must have five (5) years of progressive related work experience.
  • Shall possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by agencies insurance.
  • Must provide or obtain CPR & First Aide certification within three (3) months of hire.
  • Must have valid Mandated Reporter Training Certification within three (3) months of hire.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).
  • Must be able to work with American Indian people and be sensitive to their culture.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.
  • Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts of Bear River Band of the Rohnerville Rancheria.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays & special events as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Tribal families, at-risk youth, elders, substance abuse, and domestic violence preferred.
  • Knowledge in issues related to suicide and trauma.
  • Demonstrate emotional stability, adaptability, patience, self-control, and tact.
  • Must possess good communication skills, a professional appearance, good judgement in moral, ethical, cultural, and spiritual matters.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to handle multiple issues at once.

Responsibilities

  • Support Tribal members in accessing services and problem solving on how to meet an array of medical, mental health, educational, spiritual, social and concrete needs.
  • Collaboration across systems of care to address complex needs of Tribal members struggling with trauma, loss, substance abuse and domestic violence.
  • Respond to crisis situations.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with community members and providers.
  • Development and facilitation of groups, trainings, activities and programming for the community.
  • Empower Tribal members and when necessary advocate on their behalf.
  • Maintain professional behavior at all times.
  • Attend all required trainings.
  • Complete all required paperwork and progress notes in a timely fashion.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
