About The Position

Queens Community House (QCH) is a dynamic, multi-service settlement house dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families in Queens. We are seeking a passionate and qualified Social Worker (MSW) to join our College and Career Services division and lead the Community Resources for Employment and Development (CRED NYC) trades training programs. This role is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of participants aged 18-30, many of whom have been impacted by the justice system or live in high-crime communities. You’ll provide essential mental health services, guide participants through their occupational training, and support their personal growth as they work toward achieving their goals.

Requirements

  • MSW (Master of Social Work)
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with young adults or adult populations, particularly those facing challenges such as unemployment, justice involvement, or community barriers.
  • A compassionate approach to understanding and addressing the needs of participants from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with community partners and build relationships across organizations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with virtual platforms (Zoom, Teams) for service delivery and proficient use of Microsoft and Google Suites.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in all situations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized and group counseling to program participants, offering ongoing support to help them navigate skills training, personal challenges, and social service needs.
  • Assess mental health needs and provide referrals to appropriate resources, including counseling and substance use support.
  • Develop and implement case management strategies to improve retention, engagement, and personal development.
  • Collaborate with community organizations, human services agencies, and criminal justice systems to support participants.
  • Maintain accurate case files, track progress using Salesforce and other systems, and ensure regular follow-ups.
  • Lead orientation for new participants and ensure timely completion of all intake assessments and paperwork.
  • Facilitate leadership development activities, supporting participants in building their personal and professional skills.
  • Submit monthly and quarterly reports, tracking participant progress toward their goals.
  • Organize and lead cultural, political, and social events to enrich the program experience.
