About The Position

Provide a problem-solving service between the school and the community in providing services to students, families, and school personnel to promote and support students’ academic and social success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
  • Good listening skills with superior relational skills
  • Ability to use computers including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff, families, students, community members, local and state agencies.
  • Safeguard confidentiality of student records.

Nice To Haves

  • Job related experience within the social work field is preferred.
  • Masters degree is preferred
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker ( LCSW ) license for the state of Missouri is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct services to address the immediate concerns of at-risk students such as mental health concerns, crisis intervention, therapeutic groups, child abuse, neglect, family issues, sexuality issues, substance abuse, psychiatric concerns, suicide and school related concerns.
  • Provide short-term and on-going professional services to families that include, crisis intervention, resources and referrals and strength based case management.
  • Provide individual and group support to students and parents for the purpose of preventing, addressing or resolving behavioral issues in the classroom.
  • Conduct assessments on abuse/neglect, self-harm and suicidal threats and complete required follow up based on procedures and protocol. Referrals will be made to the appropriate mental health agencies as needed.
  • Serve as school liaison for McKinney Vento
  • Coordinate and Maintain Food Pantry
  • Coordinate and Facilitate Suicide Prevention Program
  • Facilitate Staff Development on current topics in mental health/behavioral concerns.
  • Coordinates activities with a variety of outside agencies, school sites, etc. (e.g. mental health, probation, medical, etc.) for the purpose of providing referrals for families and/or students.
  • Participate in a variety of meetings to provide support to students and families
  • Coordinate, Organize and Manage numerous projects throughout the year such as Thanksgiving Meals, Adopt A Family, etc.
  • Maintain records (e.g. case files, etc.) for the purpose of documenting contacts, activities and complying with mandated requirements.
  • Participate in Trainings, Workshops and Webinars to continue to be up to date on mental health issues, treatment options and preventive practices.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
