About The Position

The Harborview Medical Center – Social Work Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Social Worker to join our Inpatient Psychiatry unit. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS • Join a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with providers of all backgrounds. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide social work services to patients and their families, including psychosocial assessment, domestic violence screening, child abuse and elder abuse interventions, and discharge planning for inpatients admitted to the assigned medical or surgical service. • Work with patients and support systems to plan for discharge needs, including skilled nursing facility placement and other treatment programs, insurer and financial advocacy, patients/support system education, crisis intervention. • Maintain effective working relationships with members of the multidisciplinary team and provide leadership in areas of discharge resources and psychosocial and family systems interventions. • Facilitate family, support system and network conferences as indicated. • Responsibilities also include documentation and verbal communication of social work activities provided to patients and their families or support system, having knowledge of legal intervention options and processes, and of community resources that are relevant to the service population. Requirements

  • A Master of Social Work Degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education AND One year of full-time social work experience in a health care setting or equivalent. Experience can include a practicum placement as part of a social work training program and/or employment experience.
  • Within 90 days of hire must hold one of the following credentials issued by the state of Washington: • Agency Affiliated Counselor • Licensed Social Work Associate -Advanced • Licensed Social Work Associate - Independent Clinical • Licensed Advance Social Worker • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
