About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to provide a full range of professional social work services within operational Air Force (AF) squadrons. Serves as a member of a multidisciplinary Integrated Operational Support (IOS) team directly supporting the Line of the Air Force (LAF) mission assigned program with the goal of building resiliency, enhancing human performance and improving unit mission effectiveness. Clinical and administrative duties focus on education and prevention, psychosocial assessment and diagnosis, and evidenced-based interventions and treatment.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Males must be registered for Selective Service
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
  • Must possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Must have practiced as an independent licensed clinical social worker within the past two years
  • Selective Placement Factor: Possess a current, unrestricted license to practice clinical social work independently in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S Virgin Islands
  • Completion of appropriate clinical and administrative duties may involve 'after hours' care or work in addition to regular duties

  • Knowledge of military organizations and culture and the unique stressors upon workers in an operational military workplace
  • Experience providing guidance and consultation services to medical professionals and military leaders

Responsibilities

  • Observes and participates in squadron activities in order to identify psychosocial stressors and barriers to optimal human performance.
  • Develops and implements initiatives to mitigate psychosocial stressors and risks and optimize airmen performance.
  • Provides psychological consultation, education, and training to military commanders/senior leaders, other mental health professionals, and medical staff.
  • Conducts psychodiagnostic assessments and provides evidence-based psychotherapy.
