About The Position

This is a non-exempt position. Provides professional social work services to children and families. Provides psychosocial assessments and diagnosis of behavioral disabilities to offer treatments and/or environmental manipulations at the school, home, and community-based settings.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, or psychology and two (2) years experience in social work.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and must be eligible for Tribal Insurance and maintain clearance throughout employment.
  • Requires a Foster Parent Licensor Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Requires successful completion of mandatory Social Work Academy within 90 days of employment.
  • Must not have been a client of Children & Family Services for the past three years nor become one during employment.
  • Must have a healthy life style for the past three years and maintain alcohol and drug abuse free lifestyle throughout employment.
  • Requires specialized knowledge of the principles and practices associated with social work and counseling.
  • Requires specialized knowledge of and experience in the use of modern social work techniques such as family systems, ecological perspectives, school systems, and mental health.
  • Requires advanced knowledge of verbal and written communication with various types of ages.
  • Requires the skill to improve child(ren) lives by providing services to help them achieve a healthful, happy existence.
  • Requires a working knowledge of personal computer and multimedia equipment operations including common office productivity software, internet, and computer-aided programs supporting education.
  • Requires sufficient math skills to read and understand statistical concepts.
  • Requires professional level writing skills sufficient to prepare case management materials and reports.
  • Requires well-developed oral communications skills to convey concepts in individual and group counseling, home, and community-based settings, and work cooperatively with child(ren) and family.
  • Requires the skill sets to perform the responsibilities of the position including delivery of therapeutic, advisory, and counseling services.
  • Requires the ability to learn, interpret, and apply District, State, and Federal requirements and objectives for academic achievement.
  • Requires the ability to explore alternative opportunities with child(ren) and families, identify crisis situations and provide intervention.
  • Requires the ability to conduct socio-environmental analysis and prepare social and family histories.
  • Must be able to design and develop behavioral and instructional objectives for students.
  • Requires the ability to work cooperatively with teachers, and pupil personnel service providers, families, and agencies.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize work and manage time effectively.
  • Must be able to communicate in a professional manner, in both formal and informal settings with child(ren), fellow teachers, staff and parents.
  • Requires ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all program related matters ensuring client and personnel rights have not been compromised.
  • Requires ability to work closely with Law Enforcement agencies both on and off the reservation boundaries.
  • Requires the ability to work independently.
  • Requires the ability to exercise good judgement.
  • Requires ability to be client control and at all times act in the best interest of the child(ren).
  • Requires being able to work effectively with the public and handle conflicts, complaints, or problems professionally.
  • Requires the ability to communicate in written and verbal format.
  • Requires the ability to have interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships with co-workers, clients, outside agencies as well as within our own Tribal Government
  • Requires the ability to function in school, home, and outside environments, engaged in work of a predominately sedentary nature.
  • Requires sufficient physical ability to move to work locations.
  • Requires the ability to grasp, reach, push, and pull and move light weight work materials and supplies.
  • Requires sufficient arm, hand, finger dexterity to use a personal computer keyboard, multimedia, and other office equipment.
  • Requires sufficient hearing and speaking skills to project voice and communicate with staff, students, parents and other practitioners in small group settings and in one-on-one conversations.
  • Requires visual acuity to read printed materials and computer screens, observe students perform assignments, and observe moving objects and events.
  • Requires the ability to work a non-standard schedule; before and after normal work hours.
