About The Position

The Homeless Veteran Program Coordinator is a Senior Social Worker who will be primarily responsible to facilitate implementation of homeless prevention strategies at a local level through education, monitoring, and coordination activities.

Responsibilities

  • Direct program focus for the overall successful implementation of the network of homeless program initiatives to include Veterans Justice Program (VJP) and Housing Urban Development (HUDNASH).
  • Provides leadership, direction, orientation, coaching, in-service training, staff development for the Homeless Programs team members.
  • Works independently with Veterans and their families who are experiencing a wide range of complicated medical, psychiatric, emotional, behavioral, and psychosocial problems using his/her educational training, clinical experience, VA policies and accreditation standards in administering direct services.
  • Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team in the development and implementation of treatment goals and interventions as well as collaborate with Veterans and/or their families, caregivers, or survivors. This includes but is not limited to residents with dementia, end-of-life/hospice care needs.
  • Facilitate community placements through collaboration with Veterans and their families or caregivers as well as interdisciplinary treatment team members to ensure that appropriate community placements are completed in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate in performance improvement processes and comply with performance measures as required by the VA for their specific population and/or program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
  • Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
  • Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
  • Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
  • Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
  • Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
