About The Position

The VA Eastern Colorado Healthcare System is looking to fill a vacancy for the Primary Care Mental Health Integration Clinic (PCMHI) Therapist position for the Golden VA Clinic in Golden, Colorado. This position is permanent and full-time, with a work schedule of Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. The role involves performing evaluations for patient conditions such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and general emotional and cognitive functioning, while providing therapeutic interventions with a strong emphasis on evidence-based models of care.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
  • Must have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
  • Must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • Participation in the COVID-19 vaccination program is a requirement for all Veterans Health Administration Health Care Personnel (HCP).

Responsibilities

  • Performs evaluations for patient conditions such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse and general emotional and cognitive functioning.
  • Conducts assessments appropriate to individual patients with attention to the implications of test results for veterans' everyday functioning and successful treatment/management of mental health problems.
  • Provides brief, structured evidence-based psychotherapy and counseling.
  • Consults to ambulatory care staff and primary care providers on a wide variety of patient care issues pertinent to medical treatment and psychosocial recovery.
  • Develops treatment plans and recommendations, coordinates referral to other Mental Health Programs when indicated, and assists Veterans in achieving goals of psychosocial rehabilitation.
  • Assumes responsibility for timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation.
