Requirements

• Social worker with current licensure at the clinical level and eligible to practice independently
• An MSW degree from an accredited Social Work program
• Advanced knowledge of mental illness and personality development
• Knowledge of the types of treatment and skills in conducting individual, group, and family therapy
• Knowledge of adjustment to medical diagnoses and chronic disease
• Strong communication skills to interact with patients, family members, multi-disciplinary team, community agencies, and other resources
• Psychosocial diagnostic skills
• Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form
• Valid driver's license required for specific specialty areas

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams
• Provides psychotherapy
• Coordinates patient discharge planning
• Complies with required standards for medical/legal responsibilities
• Serves as a resource to other allied and administrative staff within the section of Social Work and the Department of Nursing
