About The Position

As Social Worker (LMSW) with The Women's Project (TWP), you will manage all aspects of the intake process, conduct risk/needs assessments, draft individualized service plans, provide court support/advocacy, and manage a caseload including participants with serious mental health and/or chronic substance use challenges, for cases assigned. Your responsibilities will include: Intake Manage all aspects of intake, including participant interviews and administration of needs/risk assessments tools. Collaboration Collaborate with defense counsel, external social workers, and service providers to design interventions and identify referrals for women enrolled in TWP. Service Plans Produce high-quality, trauma-informed individualized service plans for bail applications. Care Coordination Deliver gender-responsive care coordination for a caseload of women, including the provision of referrals and support in the areas of housing, health care, mental health care, substance use treatment, government benefits, family reunification, basic needs, and more. Monitor participant progress and outcomes Court Support Provide court support, including oral and written advocacy to judges and District Attorneys. Crisis Intervention Provide crisis intervention and safety planning for participants as needed. Documentation Fulfill TWP’s and funders’ documentation requirements, which include assessments, individualized service plans, progress notes, termination and transition plan summaries and/or other relevant reports and metrics. Intern Management Oversee the work of 1-2 MSW interns. Networking Develop relationships, resources, and referral partners throughout NYC social service community of benefit to TWP participants. You’re a great fit for this role if you have: Master Of Social Work degree LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker) or pending LMSW licensure; i.e., awaiting results of examination or reciprocity application. 2-4 years of experience providing services to those impacted by the criminal legal system, survivors of trauma and/or people with significant behavioral health needs. SIFI (or willingness to obtain certification shortly after assuming position). Working knowledge of NYC’s criminal legal system. Experience with behavioral health care planning. Experience using motivational interview techniques. Experience working with attorneys and courts (particularly in NYC) preferred. Knowledge of and commitment to: Alternatives to incarceration Gender-responsive and culturally competent services Trauma-informed care. Person-centered and non-judgmental language when communicating about people with criminal legal involvement, substance use disorders, and mental health challenges. Requirements
