About the position
The Social Worker - LISW/LPCC position at The Ohio State University involves the provision of social work services to inpatients, outpatients, and their families at The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital. The role includes conducting psychosocial assessments, providing mental health counseling, crisis intervention, financial counseling, discharge planning, health education, and linking patients with community agencies. The social work services aim to address the medically related social and emotional needs of patients and families, impacting their medical condition, treatment, recovery, and safe transitions between care environments. Core competencies required for this position include psychosocial assessment, counseling and crisis intervention skills, knowledge of the PASAAR process for extended care facility placement, and skills in assessing neglect/abuse, including substance abuse and domestic violence.
Responsibilities
- Provide psychosocial assessments to patients and families.
- Deliver mental health counseling and crisis intervention.
- Assist with financial counseling and discharge planning.
- Educate patients on health-related issues.
- Link patients with community resources and agencies.
Requirements
- Master of Social Work from an accredited Graduate School of Social Work.
- State of Ohio Social Work licensure (LSW or LISW) or equivalent education/experience.
