About The Position

This position is responsible for providing mental health screenings for patients served by the Adolescent Medicine Center, ages 12-24. The staff will initiate and facilitate referrals for inpatient and outpatient mental health, eating disorder and substance abuse treatment services, including counseling, psychiatry, nutrition and psychological testing. This position serves youth and families with diverse backgrounds of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender identity; comfort and expertise in cultural congruency is extremely important. A positive youth development approach and shared youth decision-making are incorporated into all client services.

Requirements

  • Master's degree - Social Work
  • Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, Basic Life Support - American Red Cross, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration, Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
  • No specific work experience is required for this position.
  • Currently a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location.
  • Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of two years of mental health and substance abuse assessment and counseling with youth.
  • Training and clinical experience with trauma modalities (i.e., TF-CBT, DBT, EMDR).

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient and caregiver education, patient advocacy (IEPs/504s, etc.), conduct safety planning and resource provision.
  • Facilitate referrals and community resources for patients and their caregivers. Resources may include outpatient therapy, intensive outpatient treatment, residential treatment and inpatient treatment.
  • Verify insurance coverage for patients and assist with insurance issues.
  • Answer inquiries from patients and caregivers about community resources.
  • Participate in a multidisciplinary team and attend team meetings/behavioral health staffing.
  • Help patients secure needed follow up appointments and provide telephone follow-up.
