About The Position
The University of Miami's Department of Neurology is seeking a Full-Time Social Worker (LCSW) to join the UHealth team. This role is pivotal in providing support to clients dealing with mental and emotional health issues. The Social Worker will engage with clients to offer emotional support, conduct mental health evaluations, provide therapy, and deliver case management services. The position requires advocating for clients and assisting them in accessing necessary resources while they navigate personal challenges. In this role, the Social Worker will counsel patients and provide crisis intervention, including assessing and treating behavioral problems. They will coach patients on managing ongoing health conditions and provide therapy aimed at facilitating positive behavior changes. The Social Worker will also assist patients and their families through individual and group sessions, as well as educational conferences, to help them understand, accept, and adhere to treatment recommendations. Additionally, the Social Worker will refer patients and their families to specialized treatment programs based on their needs and will monitor and evaluate their progress. Collaboration with other departments is essential to ensure integrated care. The position also involves maintaining accurate documentation in patient charts and acting as a mandated reporter in cases of suspected child abuse. The Social Worker will adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures while safeguarding University assets. They will provide resources related to epilepsy, assist with various forms and letters, and ensure that all duties are performed in accordance with the highest standards of care.
