About The Position

The position is for a full-time Clinical Social Worker at the Carolinas Medical Center - LCH: Child Specialty Clinic. The role involves providing biopsychosocial assessments, clinical behavioral health diagnoses, treatment planning, and evidence-based clinical interventions. The Clinical Social Worker will interview patients and their social support systems to complete initial psychosocial evaluations, provide brief psychotherapy, supportive counseling, and education, and assist patients in coping with stress related to hospitalization, disability, and chronic or terminal illness. The position requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to develop, monitor, and revise care plans based on patient and family needs. The Clinical Social Worker will also provide clinical supervision to provisionally licensed social workers and mentor new social workers in the department. The work environment is primarily indoors and fast-paced, with physical demands including lifting patients and equipment, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work from a CSWE approved graduate school.
  • 1 year of experience within the current department or 2 years of healthcare experience for external candidates.
  • License in Clinical Social Work in applicable state and/or SC required.
  • Proof of membership in a professional organization required.
  • Ability to mentor and supervise new social workers as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provides biopsychosocial assessments and clinical behavioral health diagnoses.
  • Conducts treatment planning and implements evidence-based clinical interventions.
  • Interviews patients and their social support systems to complete psychosocial evaluations.
  • Provides brief psychotherapy, supportive counseling, and education to patients and families.
  • Assists patients in coping with stress related to hospitalization and chronic illnesses.
  • Develops and coordinates care plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Advocates for patients and families throughout the care continuum.
  • Provides clinical supervision to provisionally licensed social workers.
  • Intervenes in crisis situations using appropriate crisis intervention skills.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of clinical pathways and protocols.
  • Analyzes the impact of social work involvement on quality outcomes and customer satisfaction.
  • Refers patients to external agencies for additional treatment when necessary.
  • Documents patient interactions accurately and timely according to departmental policy.
