About The Position

The Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking to hire a Social Worker III for the Illinois Youth Center located in Harrisburg, Illinois to administer professional social work services involving managing a caseload of youths with emotionally disturbed, developmentally disabled, and other conditions. Determines and develops sources of information and services to facilitate youth treatment. Interviews youth to obtain pertinent psychosocial data for problems identification, evaluation and development of treatment goals and objectives. Requirements

  • Requires a master’s degree in social work from a recognized college or university supplemented by two (2) years of professional social work experience in evaluation and treatment/habilitation of mentally ill, developmentally disabled, or other disabled persons.
  • Requires licensure as a Social Worker by the Department of Professional Regulation.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of the position held, is prohibited.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.

  • Prefers the ability to serve in a leadership capacity to less experienced professional care staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual group counseling to assigned youth(s).
  • Conducts in-depth assessments and evaluations of youths’ mental health needs.
  • Manages records, reports, and correspondence functions for assigned youth(s) in concert with assigned staff, outside agencies, and courts in compliance with facility policies and procedures.
  • Assists in program evaluation and planning, as well as data analysis and conducting in-service training for staff development on a multi-disciplinary basis for all staff.
  • Serves as lead worker of mental health contractual staff.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
