About The Position

Within the administrative framework of the department and under the supervision of a Clinical Supervisor or Senior Social Worker the Social Work Assistant will carry out designated functions of the social work discipline as related to patient care.

Requirements

• Prior experience in a social agency or clinical setting under professional supervision.
• A minimum of two (2) years post Bachelor’s Degree experience providing inpatient or outpatient services to medical, surgical. or pediatric patients..
• Baccalaureate Degree in Social Work or related field in Human Services (Required)
• Computer literacy (Required)

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains positive relationships with patients, visitors and other employees. Interacts professionally, courteously, and appropriately with patients, visitors and other employees. Behaves in a manner consistent with maintaining and furthering a positive public perception of Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center and its employees
• Elicit patient’s social/emotional problems. Provide reality oriented counseling and/or environmental manipulation.
• Conduct informational, activity oriented groups.
• Carry responsibility for patient placements and disposition.
• Escort patients for interviews and home and field visits.
• Collaborate with inter-disciplinary team in providing patient care.
• Provide necessary reports, record documentation, and statistics as required.
• Perform other activities as required assuring services to patients and the functioning of the Social Work Program.
