About The Position

Social Work Specialist will work with the MSR team to identify BGCM families that are in need of assistance and/or resources to stabilize their household. They will then case manage the families to monitor and provide support for 12 months. The data collected will be put into the Siemer Institute database.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or a related field, and/or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Understand Organization's philosophy, vision, and goals
  • Deal diplomatically with general public
  • Project a professional demeanor
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, customer service, typing and computer skills
  • Read and write in English and use arithmetic skills to accurately complete daily assignments.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with management, co-workers and customers.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems in a constantly changing and high-pressured work environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Provides crisis intervention service to identified BGCM families as needed
  • Conducts comprehensive assessments and program eligibility.
  • Develops a service plan to address issues identified in the assessment.
  • Guides and assists BGCM families in developing concrete, measurable goals and objectives necessary for successful completion of their service plan.
  • Determines appropriate types of assistance and identifies community resources that will assist families.
  • Evaluates and measures families' progress toward their successful completion of the goals and objectives.
  • Maintains all required documentation to meet BGCM, federal, and funding sources guidelines.
  • Maintain up-date-to knowledge of all program changes.
  • Adheres to the strictest professional confidentiality standards in regards to clients and client information; abides by BGCM policies and procedures.
  • Exercises good judgement and appropriate problem-solving techniques relating to concerns and disputes which may arise concerning families.
  • Works with MSR in all matters pertaining to services of families; participates in supervision meetings to discuss cases with MSR, Director of MSR, and Executive Director.
  • Assists the Director MSR in the preparation of all statistical and progress reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
