Through 3 main pillars BWell supports student wellbeing: prevention, response, and empowerment. The Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) and Harm Reduction Internship offers an advanced MSW student the opportunity to work in all 3 pillars of BWell’s mission. Services are administered across the range of the socio-ecology, including individual and group support, outreach and education, content development, and systems advocacy. The intern will receive weekly clinical supervision from the BWell Associate Director for Response Services, a licensed independent clinical social worker with over a decade of social work experience. All learning will be based on a model that identifies the interplay of power, privilege and oppression and seeks to address the roots of harm and high-risk behaviors from an anti-racist, restorative, harm-reduction approach. You will work with a diverse and multidisciplinary team of colleagues in providing these services and collaborate across many departments. Additional learning will be supported through inter and intra-departmental meetings and community learning seminars. In addition to individual supervision, interns will attend inter-and intra- departmental meetings, intermittent community learning sessions, and staff development opportunities. Approximately 20-24 hours/week depending on school-based requirements.
