Position Summary The 7th–12th Grade Social Studies Teacher will play a key role in helping scholars explore and understand the world around them through the lens of history, geography, government, and culture. The teacher will design engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that promote civic responsibility, cultural literacy, and global awareness while integrating literacy and technology across the curriculum. This educator will work collaboratively within grade-level and content-area teams to ensure that every scholar masters essential academic standards while developing the character and mindset to become informed, compassionate citizens.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Strong content knowledge in U.S. and World History, Geography, Civics, and related disciplines
  • Demonstrated passion for teaching and scholar success
  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Arkansas teaching license in Middle/High School Level Education or Social Studies content area
  • Prior teaching experience in grades 7-12 or experience in urban or charter school settings
  • Knowledge of Arkansas state standards and DESE frameworks
  • Experience integrating literacy strategies and digital learning tools in instruction

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver high-quality, standards-based social studies lessons that engage scholars in critical thinking, analysis, and discussion.
  • Integrate reading, writing, and speaking opportunities to strengthen literacy and communication across the curriculum.
  • Use inquiry-based learning and primary source analysis to deepen understanding of historical events, government systems, and world cultures.
  • Incorporate technology, multimedia resources, and project-based learning to make history relevant and meaningful.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and tailor instruction for diverse learners.
  • Maintain accurate records of scholar achievement and communicate progress regularly to families.
  • Analyze assessment data in collaboration with the instructional team to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
