About The Position

The position involves planning, preparing, and delivering lesson plans and instructional materials that encourage students to come to school, facilitate active learning, and create an exciting learning experience. The teacher will develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and tests in accordance with established school-wide procedures. Responsibilities include using appropriate instructional strategies, managing classroom behavior, grading assignments, and maintaining accurate records of student progress. The teacher will also participate in professional development and collaborate with other staff to support student learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution (Elementary/Secondary)
  • Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district, state
  • Minimum of one subject teaching credential or certification if teaching a specialized subject
  • Minimum of 0-3 years of teaching experience
  • Content area certification required for middle school teachers
  • Displays districts core attributes
  • Participate in school and district events
  • In Depth knowledge of teaching methods and legal educational procedures
  • Regular and punctual attendance at the workplace is required
  • Utilizes and integrates technology to enhance and augment instruction that impacts student learning
  • Participates in educational technology professional development provided by the district or independently.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that encourage students to come to school.
  • Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established school wide procedures.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment as outlined in student Individualized Educational or 504 Plans.
  • Establish efficient classroom management procedures.
  • Weave goals, competencies and learning targets into lesson plans in ways that directly apply to the student's life.
  • Reach school and course-wide performance goals for every student in the classroom.
  • Increase educational knowledge and stay up to date on new methods by joining professional organizations, attending continuing education courses and attending regular training sessions for teachers.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and school equipment.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Utilize school district technology and curriculum resources.
  • Administer developmental testing programs and/or subject specific assessments for assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules, procedures, and classroom expectations.
  • Grade papers and homework by regularly providing feedback to keep students updated on their progress.
  • Monitor the progress of individual students and use data to adjust teaching strategies.
  • Offer praise and encouragement to students when they do well and when they are struggling.
  • Identify students' needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students resolve learning challenges.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
  • Participate in department, school, district and parent meetings.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and needs.
  • Vary teaching methods for whole group, small group, and individual instruction.
  • Attend conferences and workshops to further advance professional development.
  • Prepare the classroom for learning activities.
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
  • Remain current with the latest developments in the profession.
