About The Position

Durango School District 9-R is accepting applications for a Social Studies Teacher at Escalante Middle School for the 2023/2024 school year. Must meet CDE and ESSA's requirements for In-Field Teacher in Secondary Social Studies by the start date of the position. Begins August 14, 2023. The position is a Licensed Teacher under the Licensed Compensation System, and the typical work year is 10 months. The teacher will plan instruction and assessment aligned with District learner outcomes and State achievement standards, supervise assigned students, and maintain a positive learning environment.

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in a related subject from an accredited university.
• Colorado Teaching License with endorsements for the levels and subject areas teaching.
• Pass the PLACE or PRAXIS II Test.
• Meet CDE and ESSA requirements for In-Field Teacher.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in teaching is preferred but may not be necessary for hiring.
• CPI training may be required depending on assignment.

Responsibilities

• Utilize effective teaching practices to teach the adopted curricula for assigned grades and subjects.
• Develop lesson plans and instruct with adopted materials.
• Utilize formative and summative assessments to assess the learning, achievement, and performance of each student.
• Model and promote character education including citizenship and responsible behavior.
• Implement student IEP's, 504 Plans, and Behavior Support Plans as outlined.
• Provide safety instruction for students regarding potential harm or injury.
• Maintain an orderly, positive learning environment free from disruptive behavior.
• Maintain an ongoing relationship with families regarding the student's educational program.
• Work with the IEP Team to assist with the development of behavior support plans.
• Abide by all applicable Federal and Colorado laws and regulations.
