About The Position

The Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS) is a nationally recognized urban school district that serves approximately 22,000 students and 60+ different languages are spoken in the homes of our students. KCKPS is home to Sumner Academy, the #6 highest rated High School in the Nation and #1 High School in Kansas according to the US News rankings. With Head Start/preschools, 28 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, and 5 college and career academies/high schools, we are the fifth largest district in the state of Kansas and our student population is approximately 56% Hispanic, 24% African American, 9% White, and 6% Asian. Requirements

  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program.

Responsibilities

  • Implement 21st Century Skills into the curriculum.
  • Work a full duty day in the assigned location.
  • Assess student abilities related to educational goals and outcomes.
  • Plan and employ a variety of appropriate instruction/learning strategies.
  • Manage the behavior of learners in the classroom and other parts of the site.
  • Communicate instructional expectations and student progress to students and parents.
  • Assess student achievement and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Participate in planning effective instructional goals and methods.
  • Engage in professional growth and development activities.
  • Document student progress by maintaining and submitting records and reports.
  • Ensure a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities as requested.
  • Attend IEP meetings for IDEA students.
  • Maintain knowledge of content, curriculum, and instructional methods.
  • Study and learn current research and theory.
  • Plan and implement lessons based on curriculum objectives.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and peers.
  • Take attendance and keep attendance registers.
  • Follow Section 504 and IDEA amendments.
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
