Services For Adults (SFA) is a part of the Adult Services Division of the Mecklenburg County Department of Child, Family, & Adult Services. The division is responsible for four main program areas: Adult Social Work Services, Community Social Work, the Senior Citizens Nutrition Program, and the Mecklenburg Transportation System (MTS). This position will be responsible for providing support and coverage to Senior Nutrition meal site managers. Duties will include client registrations, assessments, meal distribution and facilitating activities for social engagement. This is a 19 hours per week position Monday – Friday but hours may vary based on the level of coverage needed. Hours are approximately 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM (with flexibility required), working 4-5 hours within that timeframe depending on the needs of the site/location. Conduct and coordinate educational programs in an assigned area within the social services department. This position, under direct supervision, teaches educational classes, conducts program related research, implements programs or projects as directed, and provides referral services to customers.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of related experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License
  • Requires County Driving Privileges
  • Knowledge of Research methods and practices
  • Knowledge of Modern office practices and procedures
  • Possessing strong communication skills
  • Managing multiple tasks concurrently
  • Collaboration: Working effectively and cooperatively with others; establishing and maintain good working relationships
  • Communication: Clearly conveying information and ideas though a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the information provided
  • Formal Presentations: Presenting ideas effectively to individuals or groups; delivering presentations suited to the characteristics and needs of the audience
  • Managing Work: Effectively managing one’s time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently
  • Familiar with applicable computer programs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Senior Adult population preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct educational programs related to the human services field
  • Determine if referrals are appropriate and whether clients are eligible for sponsored programs
