About The Position

The Social Services Coordinator at Amarillo College plays a crucial role in supporting students by providing intake triage and assessment services through the Advocacy & Resource Center. This position is dedicated to connecting students with campus and community resources to help them overcome life barriers and meet their basic needs, ultimately contributing to their academic success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field (required).
  • Master's Degree in Social Work preferred.
  • Two years of experience in educational counseling/social services environment (required).
  • Experience in Higher Education Social Work/Social Services preferred.

  • Licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate, coordinate, refer and track services for students at risk of dropping out.
  • Support services provided in the Advocacy & Resource Center including Social Services, Adult Students Program, Food Pantry, and Baby Resource Room.
  • Respond to student needs systematically and connect them to community-based services and college resources.
  • Manage cases following Advocacy & Resource Center procedures and processes.
  • Participate in activities to recruit and retain students.
  • Refer students to appropriate campus and community resources.
  • File, track, and maintain various documents and records for the Advocacy & Resource Center.
  • Provide assistance within the Amarillo College Food Pantry as needed.
  • Assist Food Pantry Assistant with weekly data entry for Food Pantry visitors.
  • Attend and present information regarding the Advocacy & Resource Center as needed.
  • Create partnerships with campus and community resources by maintaining knowledge of available services.
  • Assist in maintaining the Advocacy & Resource Center website.
  • Respond to Watermark Alerts related to Social Service needs.
  • Complete performance assessments/evaluations as assigned.
  • Assist with Adult Students Program clerical work.
  • Process and evaluate student basic needs assessments to identify problems and provide support.
  • Coordinate crisis intervention services with counseling department and community partners as needed.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
