About The Position

The position is part-time, non-exempt, requiring 25 hours per week from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The role involves providing various services to individuals in need and assisting them in identifying and addressing the root causes of their situations. The individual will assist with the daily maintenance of the social services office organization and work to fulfill The Salvation Army's mission by serving others with love, respect, and care.

Requirements

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in social service or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of work experience in social services or related fields.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Bilingual and bicultural preferred.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to organize responsibilities and function independently.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent ability to engage with diverse populations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Must complete KeepSAfe and other required training upon hire.
  • Must have a high energy level, solid work ethic, and the ability to respond to changing conditions.
  • Must work well in a team atmosphere.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality and exhibit loyalty to The Salvation Army and the staff in all job-related matters.
  • Provide direct service to clients, including intake/assessment, referrals, advocacy, and material assistance based on guidelines, available resources, and TSA policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain a database of community resources to refer clients to other locations that may help address their needs.
  • Provide clients with information and referrals to appropriate TSA programs and other community resources.
  • Discuss special cases with the Corps Officers to resolve client situations.
  • Refer clients seeking spiritual guidance to the Corps Officers.
  • Refer clients to the Pathway of Hope Case Manager, as appropriate.
  • Assist Corps Officers with various programs, including youth camps, Angel Tree, holiday meals, and food pantries as requested.
  • Participate in community meetings and collaborative networks to address issues relevant to the community and represent TSA at social service community functions deemed appropriate by the Corps Officers.
  • Assist in the daily maintenance of the office organization, including typing, filing, computer use, mail preparation, etc.
  • Maintain confidential files and accurate records, including pertinent information such as services provided and a plan of action.
  • Coordinate monthly statistics for social services and submit them accordingly.
  • Assist in the soup kitchen on weekends as requested by supervisors.
