  • Represents the department to the public to coordinate, explain, and discuss programs and services.
  • Prepares program reports and completes special projects.
  • Coordinates programs and activities and maintains positive public relations with social service and community agencies.
  • Plans and coordinates meeting agendas and speeches, recreational, educational, and special event activities.
  • Schedules and coordinates public relations activities and public service announcements.
  • Gathers information concerning social service programs, projects, services, and client statistics, and distributes literature and information to the media, community organizations, and the public.
  • Counsels individuals and their families in marital, domestic violence, or crisis situations.
  • Confers with legal, medical, mental health, and social service agencies to assist individuals in resolving problems and to refer individuals for professional advice and counseling.
  • Prepares investigations, case files, and findings, and testifies in court.
  • Researches publications to obtain current information or innovative methods to meet the needs of clients.
  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Criminal Justice, Education, Liberal Arts, Social Science, Social Work, or a related field.
  • One year of social work, social service, community service, resource development, teaching, or job training experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
