About The Position

The Social Service Assistant at Valor Home - Summit is a part-time role responsible for supporting the management and senior support staff in providing a safe and stimulating environment for residents. This position involves various administrative and support tasks to ensure the efficient operation of the facility and its therapeutic programming, while adhering to the policies and procedures of Family & Community Services.

Requirements

  • Ability to model open communication and fair treatment.
  • Excellent in-person, phone, email, and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of community services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the efficient running of the facility and its therapeutic programming.
  • Answer phones, direct inbound calls, and take messages.
  • Keep the front office organized.
  • Make and track a list of office and facility supplies as needed.
  • Check fire extinguishers monthly and conduct fire drills monthly.
  • Check and log all facility refrigeration temperatures as needed.
  • Prepare rooms for incoming residents.
  • Contact vendors regarding HVAC, pest control, and other facility needs as needed.
  • Maintain and update medication logs.
  • Receive, log, and process donations.
  • Complete check requests as needed.
  • Prepare meals for residents on occasion.
  • Track therapeutic attendance.
  • Complete contact summary and address potential client inquiries, making referrals as necessary.
  • Assist in completing intake paperwork and gathering identification for resident documentation as assigned by the Case Manager.
  • Assist residents in communicating with various agencies to secure appointments.
  • Accompany residents to appointments with agencies as needed.
  • Promote anti-discriminatory practices ensuring no resident is discriminated against.
  • Adapt to the working environment, whether as part of a team or independently.
  • Provide support to ensure residents experience an improved quality of life.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required by management.
  • Foster positive working relationships with other staff members.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of internal fire regulations and emergency procedures.
  • Report timely for all assigned shifts.
  • Comply with agency policies and procedures, COA regulations, and federal and state requirements.
