About The Position

The Social Scientist position at Tetra Tech focuses on socioeconomic and environmental justice analysis, supporting large-scale federal and state projects across the United States. The role can be performed in a hybrid format from the Bothell, WA office or fully remote. The successful candidate will engage in National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and state-level environmental permitting projects, emphasizing the analysis of socioeconomic impacts and environmental justice.

Requirements

• Master's degree in economics, land use planning, or a similar discipline.
• 3 to 8 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience working with NEPA under various federal agencies.
• Familiarity with input-output modeling and experience preparing economic and fiscal impact studies.
• Excellent research, analytical, writing, oral communication, and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with other social science disciplines such as land use, recreation, and scenery.
• Familiarity with Benefit-Cost Analysis and principles of economic valuation.
• Experience working with public data sources.

Responsibilities

• Support NEPA and state-level environmental permitting projects with a focus on socioeconomic and environmental justice impact analysis.
• Engage in complex projects requiring strong critical thinking skills and a flexible approach to problem-solving.
• Communicate effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, team members, and the public.
• Conduct socioeconomic studies to support NEPA and state permitting requirements.
• Prepare Environmental Justice analyses and familiarize with federal and state guidance and online tools.
