Brief Description: Teaches, as part of a middle school teaching assignment, one or more classes in a given subject area in grades 6 - 8, and assists in other school programs as assigned.
Requirements
- Possession of a valid and appropriate Teaching Credential with an Social Science authorization as issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing is preferred.
- Candidates in the process of completing their credential program are encouraged to apply and indicate within their supporting documents when they anticipate program completion.
- This includes candidates enrolled in their university's internship program.

Responsibilities
- Teaches skills, knowledge, concepts and attitudes in the subject area, utilizing approved courses of studies and other appropriate learning activities
- Develops instructional plans to organize class activities to provide maximum learning opportunities throughout the time-span of a course
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small-group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
- Evaluates students' academic growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports
- Communicates with parents and school counselors on the progress of individual students toward meeting the established standards of achievement for a given grade level
