About The Position

The candidate will primarily focus on conducting research to reduce school-based violence, collaborating with community organizations to assess interventions targeting youth violence and involvement in the criminal legal system. The role involves various research tasks, skill development, and mentoring to prepare the candidate for competitive PhD programs in social science. This is a one-year position with the potential for renewal based on performance and funding availability. Start date is as soon as possible. The purpose of this position is to support the Initiative for Law, Societies, and Justice team in conducting research, education, and capacity building related to policy and practice issues that promote access to safety and justice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree: preferably in Psychology, Sociology, or related field, and four years' related experience.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the design of new evaluations
  • Reviewing and summarizing the literature on school-based violence reduction initiatives
  • Managing undergraduate research assistants in research tasks
  • Analyzing data
  • Attending and actively participating in weekly project meetings, and research presentations.
  • Receive structured training in preparation for doctoral programs in social science
