About The Position

Summer internships will range between the months of May and August. All dates dependent upon the university schedule of the selected students. Internships are full-time and on-site in Los Angeles, CA. Internships at Varda are optimal for students looking to grow technically and professionally while working on impactful projects critical to the company’s success. You will be working on a collaborative team in a startup environment while being able to learn from some of most accomplished and experienced aerospace professionals in the world. We’re dedicated to providing an experience that will let your decisions and contributions help drive Varda’s success. As a Social Media Intern, you’ll play a key role in shaping how the world sees Varda. You’ll work directly with our marketing and communications team to create engaging content, build community, and help us share our mission at the intersection of space, science, and innovation. If you're passionate about storytelling, science communication, and the intersection of space, pharma, and innovation, this role is for you!

Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Science Communication, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of major social platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter/X).
• Exceptional writing and editing skills with attention to tone and detail.
• Experience with design tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar.
• Basic video/photo editing skills (bonus points for Reels or short-form video creation).

Nice To Haves

• Passionate about space exploration, pharmaceuticals, or biotechnology.
• Creative thinker with the ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences.
• Highly organized, proactive, and capable of meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Develop engaging and visually appealing posts, videos, and stories for social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Twitter (X), and Instagram.
• Write clear, concise, and compelling copy tailored to different audiences.
• Assist in designing a cohesive social media strategy that aligns with the company’s vision and goals.
• Create and maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent and timely posting.
• Monitor comments, messages, and mentions to foster a sense of community and engagement.
• Track key performance metrics (e.g., engagement rates, follower growth) to measure the impact of campaigns.
• Provide insights and recommendations for improving content and strategy based on data.
• Stay updated on social media trends and identify opportunities to adopt innovative approaches.
• Explore partnerships with influencers, science communicators, and relevant organizations.
