FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt Location: 2500 Navy Way, Terminal Island, CA 90731 Purpose Step inside the world of global trade and help bring the story of Pier 400 Los Angeles to life. As our Social Media Intern, you’ll be right in the middle of the action—capturing real stories, real people, and real impact at the largest container terminal in North America. From showcasing our sustainability innovations (like our Clean Truck Express Lanes) to spotlighting the amazing teams who keep cargo moving, you’ll help shape the digital voice of APM Terminals Los Angeles across all major platforms. If you love creating short‑form content, experimenting with new trends, and turning everyday moments into engaging stories, this internship is for you. You’ll gain hands-on experience managing social media end-to-end—planning, producing, posting, and analyzing content that reaches thousands of viewers across the Harbor Area and beyond. Requirements

  • Eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Education – actively enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s degree program (Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media, Public Relations, Business, or a related field preferred).
  • Skills – preferred Comfort using social platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Experience with content creation tools such as CapCut, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar.
  • Strong writing skills with attention to tone and audience.
  • Basic understanding of social media analytics and engagement metrics.
  • General computer literacy, including Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
  • Functional Excellence Organized, detail-oriented, and able to follow brand guidelines.
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support and help manage APM Terminals Los Angeles’ social media presence across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and X.
  • Create engaging short-form content including videos, graphics, and captions that bring port operations, sustainability efforts, workforce stories, and community impact to life.
  • Capture authentic on-site content at Pier 400, including events, tours, volunteer activities, and “day-in-the-life” moments.
  • Engage with online audiences by responding to comments and messages in a professional, on brand voice and monitoring relevant industry conversations.
  • Assist with planning and maintaining a weekly social content calendar (approximately 3–5 posts per week), balancing scheduled and real-time content opportunities.
  • Stay current on social media trends and creatively adapt them to logistics, port operations, and sustainability storytelling.
  • Track and summarize basic performance metrics (engagement, reach, views, follower growth) to help inform content improvements.
  • Support ad hoc communications projects and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.
