Commerce is seeking a Social Media Intern to join our Communications team. This role sits at the intersection of communications, content, data, and social media, with a focus on using AI tools and insights to improve social media performance, quality, efficiency, and impact. You’ll work closely with our social and communications teams to test new approaches, optimize content, and scale how we engage audiences across platforms. This is a paid position lasting 10-12 weeks with some flexibility. This is a hybrid role based in our Austin, Texas office. It requires three days per week in the office.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing or a related field
  • Strong interest in social media, digital trends, and emerging technologies
  • Familiarity with major social platforms and content formats
  • Experience with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, and other platforms) and their applications
  • Analytical mindset with an ability to interpret data, draw insights, and recommend actions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter who is enthusiastic about experimenting and learning quickly

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day social media operations across platforms
  • Use AI tools to assist with content ideation, drafting, and optimization
  • Analyze social media performance data and identify trends, insights, and opportunities
  • Help test and implement AI-driven workflows to improve speed and efficiency
  • Assist in developing and refining prompts, templates, and processes for content creation
  • Monitor social conversations and contribute to real-time engagement opportunities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, PR, design) on campaigns and initiatives
  • Track and report on key metrics, helping translate data into actionable recommendations
