About The Position

The Bulwark isn’t just a business, it’s a mission. We're a fast-growing media company founded to provide reporting and commentary in defense of liberal democracy. Our podcasts, newsletters, and videos cut through the noise to deliver sharp, independent analysis. Inside The Bulwark, we live by a few simple rules: candor over spin, collaboration over ego, and a commitment to making each other better. We’re a nimble, fast-moving team that takes our work seriously, but not ourselves. We’re looking for a Social Media Editor to join our team. About the Role This is a hands-on social media role built for someone who's ready to grow. You'll work closely with our Digital Director to manage day-to-day publishing across platforms—getting the right content out at the right time, in the right voice. You'll be part of a small, fast-moving team where your work will be visible and your learning curve will be steep (in a good way). This role includes at least one weekend day per week, with a weekday off in exchange.

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of experience working on social media, graphic design, or video editing.
  • Familiarity with major social platforms and how content performs differently across them.
  • Clear, concise writing skills and strong editorial judgment.
  • A deep interest in politics, current events, and media.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities, especially around breaking news.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfort working a regular schedule that includes at least one weekend day, with a weekday off during the Monday-Friday workweek.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with video editing software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Publish content daily across platforms including X/Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Bluesky, and Reddit.
  • Write clear, engaging copy tailored to each platform's audience and format.
  • Do light video editing to clip and format content from our shows for social.
  • Help track what's performing well and flag trends to the team.
  • Stay on top of platform changes, news cycles, and what's working in political media.
  • Engage with audiences in comment sections and conversations, following team guidelines.
  • Grow into ownership of a specific platform or content area over time.

Benefits

  • Full employer-sponsored health plans
  • 401(k) plan with employer match
  • Flexible, uncapped vacation and paid time off
  • Commuter benefits and Employee Assistance Program
