About The Position

The Social Media Content Creator is a part-time role responsible for crafting engaging narratives and multimedia content for various social media platforms. This position aims to connect with audiences, foster community engagement, and enhance the visibility of the Richmond Sheriff's Department through effective storytelling and strategic content management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in public relations, communications, marketing, public affairs, or a directly related field.
  • Two years of public communications experience such as writing, editing, graphic design, and layouts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and other graphic design/photo editing software.

  • Experience in social listening and public relations.
  • Strong writing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Craft narratives and produce multimedia content for social media platforms.
  • Develop and implement communication plans and marketing campaigns.
  • Create high-quality, original content including videos, graphics, blog posts, and social media posts.
  • Manage a content calendar to plan and schedule posts in advance.
  • Engage with followers and respond to queries in a timely manner.
  • Monitor social media and industry trends to stay ahead of the curve.
  • Analyze performance metrics to gauge content effectiveness and optimize future posts.
  • Adapt content to suit different social media platforms and their respective audiences.
  • Utilize SEO best practices to increase content visibility and engagement.
  • Run social media advertising campaigns in line with the content strategy.
  • Carry out any other duties as directed by the Sheriff, DIT Manager, and/or the Sheriff's designee.
